Relation between the Characteristics of Structured on Job Training and Building the Abilities of Individual Workers in Industry Domain: the Case of Dimlage Factory, Amman- Jordan

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relation between the characteristics of Structured-On Job Training (S-OJT) and building the abilities of individual workers at Dimlage factory, Amman- Jordan. To realize the study objectives, a questionnaire was developed and distributed randomly to (150) individuals working at different job levels. The valid returned questionnaires for analysis were (141). Results of this study revealed the existence of a strong relation between the characteristics of (S-OJT), including (conducting training in the workplace, plan and specific training objectives, trainers from inside the organization, documents and manual work and organized training approach) and building the abilities of individual workers in the industry. The results of this study also revealed the existence of a significant positive relation between the characteristics of (S-OJT) and building the abilities of Dimlage factory workers with varying degrees, where the strongest relation was in favor of conducting training in the workplace; while the weakest relation was in favor of utilizing organized training approach. Based on the study results, a number of recommendations were introduced to training decision makers in Jordanian industrial organizations, such as adopting and implementing (S-OJT) due to its positive relation with building the abilities of workers, in terms of increasing quantity and improving production quality, which in turn enables Jordanian industrial organizations to compete effectively in the local, regional and international markets
