Cognitive Perceptions of Risks of Existential Security and its Relationship to the Pillars of Jordanian National Security: Professors of Political Science in the Jordanian Universities as a Model

Abstract

The study aims to define the cognitive perceptions related to the risks of existential security among political science professors in Jordanian universities according to the international Frank Matrix (the axis of temporal effects) and their relationship to the pillars of Jordanian national security in the Jordanian universities from their point of view. Also, its relationship to the variables of gender and scientific rank. The study members consist of all professors of political science in the Jordanian universities, where this specialization is available, and their number is (48) teachers (male and female). The study tool is developed to achieve its objectives after reviewing the political literature and previous studies. The results of the study indicate that the degree of appreciation of political science professors in the Jordanian universities for cognitive perceptions related to the risks of existential security is high. In addition, their degree of appreciation for the perceptions of knowledge related to the pillars of Jordanian national security is moderate. Moreover, the study shows an existence of a positive correlational relationship with statistical significance between the cognitive perceptions related to the risks of existential security according to the Frank International Matrix (the axis of time effects) is on the total score as well as Perceptions of knowledge related to the pillars of Jordanian national security in Jordanian universities. The study also shows that there are no statistically significant differences for the temporal effects according to the variable of sex and scientific rank. Also, an existence of statistically significant differences of the national security pillars according to the gender variable in favor of males. Whereas there are no statistically significant differences for the pillars of national security according to the scientific rank variable. In light of its results, this study comes out with a set of recommendations.
