Abstract

This study reviews the literary works of Savyon Liebrecht, who is considered one of the best known writers of contemporary Hebrew Literature. In addition to her Short Stories writing, she wrote Novels, Plays and several television Scripts. Liebrecht's Literary Works frequently deals with relevant social issues in Israel in her works, Liebrecht reflects the problems that Israeli community suffering from, and she gets into the Israeli spirit. She deals with the following Themes: Arab-Israeli conflict, the suffering of the Sephardic Jews in the Israeli community, the Tension between religious and seculars in the Israeli community, The gaps between the different generations in Israel, she presents also a different experiences of women as a mothers, wifes and grand mothers, and the most recurrence theme in her literary works is the (Holocaust) and its effects on the survivors and the second generation. After reviewing Liebrecht's literary works, the study moves to a translation of one of Liebrecht's famous short stories entitled "Apples from the Desert".
