Abstract

Abstract The current study aimed at identifying and understanding the problems facing the poor women-headed households. Field study was undertaken in National Aid Fund, where 140 women heads of households were studied. The purposive sampling was used to select participants reflecting a variety of poor women situation. Qualitative method was used in order to gain in-depth information. The researcher used semi structured individual interviews، content analysis and observation, as a data collection techniques. Key findings included the following: poverty is the most pressing problem. Access to employment serious difficulty, unequal gender relations, divorce, violence against women and children, men walking away .What clear from this study is that the entire household, women, men, children pay a high price as a results of the problems facing their families. Recommendation were submitted, the basic fact, that the gender relations, need to be a central part of any poverty reduction strategies in the future.
