Abstract

This paper aims at identifying the ironical situations as illustrated in Al Waharni's The Grand Dream. This paper reveals the sarcasm of the author and his cynical attitude toward a number of people in Ayyubid age in different sciences. He mocks a number of Egypt's and Syria's scholars, jurisprudents, writers, physicians, and phoneticians among others. This paper also aims at meditating the approach AL-Waharani adopted in writing The Grand Dream; an approach that is differed from the approach of his peers, who adopted Al-Fadili figurative style. Al Waharani, therefore, used a familiar style that is based on narrative and dramatic representation of scenes.
