Abstract

The study aims to identify the level of private school teachers’ awareness in the emirate of Ajman in UAE of the protection and safety of their students electronically, and its relationship to some social variables through the descriptive approach. E-questionnaire was used to collect data from a random sample of 149 schools’ teachers. Results of the study indicate that the level of awareness of school teachers towards their students’ protection and safety in 13 variables that had been studied is increased. The teachers’ awareness of the need to specify the hours of using the Internet for students with scored mean of 2.95 and a standard deviation of 0.215 came first with a high level of awareness among teachers. This awareness has decreased in eight other variables, with score mean ranging between 2.10 - 1.81 and standard deviations between 0.652 - 0.866. The study also reveals that there is a statistically significant relationship between the variables of gender, age, experience, specialization and the degree of teachers ’awareness of students’ electronic security. Among the most important recommendations of the study are the necessity of training students in the safe use of search engines assigned to them and raising information security awareness and UAE cybercrime laws.
