Factors of low achievement level in learning the Arabic language, and their treatment in Arabic language teaching institutes for non-Arabic speakers in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the factors that lead to the low level of academic achievement in learning the Arabic language as seen by the female students in the institutes of teaching Arabic language to non-Arabic speakers students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to develop a suggested scenario to overcome them. The sample of the study consisted of (78) female students from the Institute of teaching Arabic Language for non-Arabic speakers at Princess Noura Bint Abdul Rahman University and the Institute of teaching Arabic Language at King Abdulaziz University. The results of the study showed that the factors related to the linguistic content (Curriculum) came in the first of the factors affecting the academic achievement, the factors related to the assessment system and tests were the second. The factors related to the educational environment came third, while the factors related to the teacher were ranked fourth and the factors related to the student were final. In the light of the results, the study developed a proposed scenario to overcome these factors, such as the re-examination of the concerned and the content of the linguistic content in the curricula established in the institutes of Arabic language teaching of the way in which the presentation and presentation of the linguistic information by focusing on the presentation of examples of adequate application of each linguistic concept, This concept in reality, and not only the presentation of the concept simply and demand its preservation without application.
