Abstract

This research aims to study the dialectic of the ego and the other in Diwan (Poetry Collection) of Ibrahim Nagy "Behind the Clouds", in order to examine "the poetic ego" in its interactions and relationship with "the other". It is no secret that many literary and critical studies have focused on this dialectical dualism, "the ego" and "the other", and the poems of this Diwan were the most expressive of this phenomenon because of their association with the creative self that is in harmony with self and the other with which it collided; based on whether positive or negative dialectical relationship, and the extent of the impact of this relationship on the poetry of the poet. Whoever meditates on the poetry of Ibrahim Nagy will notice the presence of a number of opposite dualism that arise between the ego and the other, in which the ego appears in a state of contrast to the other in a dialectical relationship. The image of the other, which was present in the texts of the poet, varied to be the beloved ego, the suffering ego, and the alien ego. These images are represented by the poet's ego and the misfortunes and hardships that poet has experienced in the society, and an independent ego does not exist except through the other.
