The Tale Structure and Vision between Constantin V. Gheorghiu’s novel the 25th Hour and Rabi‘ Jābir’s Druze of Belgrade

Abstract

This research aims to shed light on the level of similarity and difference in the tale structure and vision of Constantin V. Gheorghiu’s novel the 25th Hour and Rabi‘ Jābir’s Druze of Belgrade, a novel that won the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2012. By comparing the two novels, the study demonstrates that Druze of Belgrade’s structure and perspective toward humanity, modern existence, and identity and its conflicts are analogous to those of the 25th Hour. The research also claims that the 25th Hour has been a key factor in forming the structure and vision of Druze of Belgrade. The research investigates all aspects of similarities in the two novels, at the level of their main sections, details, and the development of events, as well as the level of perspective. The latter is framed in this research under the concept of identity, both on the human and individual level.
