Maladaptive Schemas and Cognitive Insight Among Jordanian Battered Women
Abstract
This study examines maladaptive schemas in relation to cognitive insight among Jordanian women. A sample of (388) women were taken as a subject of investigation. The respondents were classified into two groups (battered women, n= 224, and non- battered, n=164).Young's maladaptive schema and Beck's cognitive insight scales were employed. The study comprises a number of classified variables. Results indicate that disconnection and rejection, impaired limits, overigilance and inhibition, and impaired autonomy are all related to insight impairment. In comparison to non- battered, battered women have scored higher means in all maladaptive schemas and impaired insight. Results show that cognitive impaired insight is higher in women with short married life and physical violence.Downloads
