Abstract

This article deals with a Nabataean inscription found in Wadi Mukattab in Sinai and dated back to year 85 of the Eparchy= AD 191. This inscription has received considerable attention from scholars who strived to provide convincing readings and interpretations, but it seems that all of those reading are inaccurate. Thus this articlediscusses and reviews the proposed readings and suggests a new reading that fits the linguistic and historical contexts of the text.
