Abstract

Demographic transition theory is considered as alogical scientific diagnosis of the transition and changeable population stages according specific models through specific time and cohorts ,Most demographers agreed on three demographic stages: First stage: has high birth and high death rates reflect on low population growth rate. Second stage: birth rat show stability to some extent ,while death rats gradually decreasing ,this reflects on low population growth rate. Third stage: each of birth and death rates are decreasing followed by decreasing population growth rate. Jordan now is consider in the third stage of demographic transition Jordan had witnessed the three demographic stages ,Jordan passed the first stag in which both of fertility and mortality levels were high. Jordan transferred to the second stage in which fertility levels were staple but started to decreased gradually while mortality levels decreased highly and resulted on population explosion. Jordan passed to the three stage of demographic transition in which both of fertility and mortality levels are decreased as a result of socio-economic development as Tunisia ,Morocco, Lebanon,Egypt ,Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Taiwan. Population opportunity in Jordan is located in the third stage of demographic transition, as abig change of population age structure transfered from small age intervals to labour force age intervals
