The Reasons for Sultan Qaboos University Students falling under Probation

Abstract

The research specifically aims to study the reasons for Sultan Qaboos University students falling under probation. It was conducted on a sample consists of 620 students who were both males and females. The data was collected by a special electronic questionnaire prepared for this study. It was then analyzed according to the descriptive methodology with the use of SPSS. The results show that there are various important reasons for Sultan Qaboos University students falling under probation. The main reason was because they do not study well during exams. They also do not have the skills of time management. Moreover, they cannot concentrate during lectures and they have difficulties in comprehension. Most of the students confirmed that they face difficulties with exams. In addition, their low levels in English language courses and other general courses make the biggest challenge for them.
