Wasteful Consumption of Bread in Jordan

Abstract

This study aims to identify the amount of waste in consuming the subsidized type of bread sold in Jordan. In addition to determining waste areas of this basic community. This study examined the behavior of national sample covering all Jordanian states and according to its population size. The finding were as follow : -There is a significant statistical relationships between the demographic factors effects(such as age, category, employment status, income level, family size, the type , place of housing, and the amount of waste in subsidized bread.( -The existence of waste of bread among large percentage of examined sample (56.95%) as table number (8) indicates. -The result of this study indicates that majority of families in Jordan depend on bread for its food system (84.7%) Finally, the study recommends that the government and NGO's (specially consumer protection society) should work with all parties in concern in designing and implementing some practical plans and programs aiming to educate consumers about the importance of eliminating all types of waste in consuming the popular bread. Also, this study recommends that government and other NGO's to put some plans, programs, and policies aiming to eliminate bread waste in one hand and keeping the public resources from the other hand.
