Suggested conceive for ornamenting the "Tasleem" in Sama'i form for Oud beginner performers

Abstract

Melodic ornaments are considered the basics, in which musical performers practice all of their musical talents relying on musical memory which they have. During his lectures, the researcher has noticed that most students perform some typical ornaments that they previously heard and learned from each others or from other players, and which are not written in the musical score, the thing that preventing them from learning new patterns of ornamentations, which leads the researcher to conduct this research considering (the SAMA'I Rast Tatius Afandi) as a sample to present his ideas that could help beginners to improvise melodic ornaments equivalent to his or her performing level. The study included two parts: 1- The literature review containing: former studies, Sama'i, musical improvisation, and the importance of music ornamenting. 2- The application: introducing the study sample, few invented ideas for performing melodic ornaments using different Rhythmic patterns. The researcher ended his research with some results and recommendation, and finally the list of references.
