The Image of Sea in Mahmoud Darwish Poems...Beirut Sea as a Model

Abstract

This study aims to show both life and death through image of sea. The Sea is considered a vital element in Mahmoud Darweesh vision from through (Madaah al_zaal al_allay) and (Hesar le_madah al_bahar), especially in Beirut Sea to become the semantic polarization. It is the symbol of separation and departure. So, the concept of sea expands and attracts the concept of leaving through the journey of oils without the intervention of God in shortening the period of this journey. This leaving found no one to prohibit and no one that makes its consequences easier. The current study addressed the image of sea, its consequences and changes at Mahmoud Darweesh and his rich poetic production, especially Beirut sea and its artistic, intellectual and emotional indications.
