Quantitative analysis of the road network in the Mafraq Governorate

Abstract

This study aims to analyse road network in Mafraq Governorate using graphs theory and some quantitative methods in order to recognize the reality of the road network in terms of the degree of Connectivity and Circuitry and Accessibility and the Detour Index, in addition to the relationship between the lengths of the network and population distribution analysis, the study found that the road network suffers from the low level of connectivity and Circuitry in general, especially after the rural road network exclusion, and the main road network and secondary characterized by integrity rather than emphasize the nature of the plains region, and the study concluded that there is a disparity in the road network distribution within the province and that the lengths of roads ratio does not fit with population ratios, so the study recommended the need to develop to ensure re-distribution of the population and meet their development plans.
