Symbol Significations in the Art Work of Ismael Shamoot

Abstract

The research aims to study the significations of symbolism in the art work of Ismael Shamoot. The research identifies artistic dimensions for these significations and their usages in forming the artist’s paintings. The importance of the research stems from the fact that it deconstructs the significations of the symbols in the artist’s work and analyzing them. The research traces the work of the artist between 1997 and 2000. The researcher identifies five paintings for the Jordanian artist and analyzes them. The research can be useful for those who work in visual arts in general, artists and critics; it also offers insights to academic institutions that are concerned with plastic art. Key words: Palestinian plastic art, signification, symbol, color, shape.
