Abstract

The present study aims at the explication of the concept of fantasy and its various denominations in modern Arabic literature through the discussion of the novel elements such as characters, language, locale and time, under the shadows of fantastic events. The study discusses Mounis Alrazaz’s novel Arabs’ Mazes in Mirage Skyscrapers through the detection of the fantastic dimensions on which that novel is founded with its different elements (character, language, locale and time). Alrazaz’s novel chronicles the transformations that Amman’s community underwent as it became a consumerist society and the concomitant changes in the characters and the protagonist who was fragmented into two characters, the first: progressive secular and modernized, the second: conservative, traditional and unable to cope up with the modern society.
