Abstract

Western music theory generally contains all analysis of Intervals of major and minor scales. The uniqueness of those scales is determined by the equal tempered scale with the well determined distance between intervals nominated from and to each level of scales. By contrast, Arabic music theory lacks this uniqueness since it has emphasized on successive sequenced intervals only. This research tried to investigate the sizes of distance spectrum of the second and the third sequence that may start and end from low tunes of the three quarter note scale of the Maqamat in Arabic music, known what is called the middle third beside the middle second. But the rest of the intervals are ignored and don’t have scientific names.
