Abstract

The research investigated the issue of quoting the Prophetic language in the light of a decree of The Academy of Arabic Language in Cairo on this matter. A detailed critical analysis was provided and evidently pointed out that the decree was neither inclusive nor exclusive for all, and only, the Ḥadīths which their wording is attributable to the Prophet. Accordingly, the researcher suggested some standards which should resolve the deficiencies of the decree. These six standards are applied on the narrations of Abdullah b. Umar as a case study. It was found that out of (3000) narrations by him only (5) were compatible with these standards.
