The Effect of Civic Education on Promoting the Culture of Democracy

Abstract

The present study aims to establish civic education and to measure its effect on promoting the culture of democracy among citizens. The main question of the study was" What is the effect of civic education on promoting the culture of democracy among citizens?" The analytical descriptive approach was used to analyze the data of the study. The results of the study revealed that prompting civic education significantly improves the culture of democracy among people. Results also indicated that sharing and involvement are so important to establish and maintain peace in democratic societies. For this to happen, the government should respond to citizens' basic requirements or needs. It was concluded that ignoring the varied needs and opinions of citizens results in the lack of national commitment. Based on these results, it was recommended that the culture of democracy be incorporated in educational curricula to maintain unity and active participation in decision making.
