Abstract

This study revolved around the contrastive frame in analyzing and studying the phenomenon of "definiteness and indefiniteness" in both; Arabic and Malay Languages, in order to discover the difficulties encountered by Bruneian students in using this phenomenon so we are able to foresee and review difficulties and errors that faced by the students and expose the solutions to avoid the problems. Hopefully, this study will provide useful insights and guidance for Arabic teachers and curriculum developers, to reach out more effectively towards helping students, by coming up with strategies and solutions so that it would not occur in their future grammatical performances.
