Abstract

Arabic language is considered as a derivative, morphological language, which distinguishes it from other languages. Hence, any new learner of the language is expected to commit linguistic mistakes as a result of misunderstanding the language in its different levels (i.e phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical level). Therefore, this research aims to analyze errors committed by learners of Arabic in the fourth level at the Language Center in University of Jordan according to the practical approaches: Contrastive Analysis Approach, and Error Analysis Approach, in which practical linguists deal with the problems of teaching Arabic as foreign language. The sample of the study consisted of writing of Korean students, both male and female, in the fourth level at the language Center in the academic year 2013/2014. This level was chosen due to the fact that the students of the fourth level are expected to have the skill of writing, the ability to express themselves through writing and speaking, and a sufficient amount of vocabulary. This fact relayed on different sources in addition to the researchers’ experience in this field. As a result of this study, many errors were found in different linguistic levels. It was also found that one error leads to other errors, such as: phonological, morphological, structural, and lexical errors.
