Abstract

This research aims at introducing a mechanism to solve the problem of Arabizing technical terms. The indicators of the Arabic linguistic status signals a crisis-like situation to render the technical terms into Arabic.

This goes synchronically with the unprecedented global environment, in which concepts are being generated, innovations are being introduced and terms are being formed. It is predictable that the crisis will enormously increase due to the effects of globalization and the pressure of its language.

The study suggests an outline mechanism to address this problem by improving the linguistic methodology, adopting a computerized system based on database for terminology, employing the traditional term repertoire and controlling standardization since the standardization dimension controls the term structure and facilitates lexicography. This leads to improve and activate the idea of the Arabic terminology network to establish a link among those working in the field of terminology.
