Security Expedition on Ma’an City in 2002

Abstract

This study aims to highlight on the issue of the security expedition on Ma’an city in 2002 during the government’s period of the Engineer Ali Abu Arragheb, and that through analyzing the events that happened in the city. The Jordanian government took a decision to send security forces to finalize these events which political decision maker in Jordan considered it as security events that touched the peace and safety of the citizen, and it made aggression on the country’s establishments and harming it, as well as he considered it as a challenging and breaking laws and systems, this study presented reasons and justifications of the security expedition from different point of views, and it had in its analysis the way of making and making the decision related to the issue, explaining the alternates which were available in front of the decision owner, and how the alternate was chosen which being suitable with decision maker’s thoughts and realizations from other alternates were available, with consideration that the alternate was the successful solution to solve the issue, after inability of government to arrange with opinion leaders and persons of distinction in Ma’an to finalize the issue without harming in the city and the citizens of Ma’an, as well as the study showed officials’ opinion, political parties, human rights’ organizations, and opinions leaders and persons of distinction of Ma’an city toward the event.
