Abstract

Modern and contemporary Arabic poetry has been influenced by the techniques of world poetry. Many Arab poets have followed poetic modernism consciously and mastered it. Mahmoud Darweish represents this modernism and adopted it in this poetry. Dialogue has been a main characteristic of modern Arabic poetry. Mahmoud Darweish was able to adopt three forms of dialogue, multiple voices and monologue to maintain beautiful rhyme that reflects his vision and his ability to unleash the inner poetic self. This poet detected the important difference between internal monologue and the stream of consciousness which in turn aided in translating these modern poetic techniques into unique poetry at the level of art and vision.
