Abstract

This study tries to identify the commercial activity of Egypt during the Ayyubid era and clarifies the factors influencing it, as well as, its impact on the treasury of the Ayyubid state both on terms of the commercial returns on that activity or the taxes that levied by the state from the traders. The study also tried to clarify the movement of prices of goods and factors affecting its rise and fall both in terms of supply and demand and in terms of the climatic factors or agricultural pests, or the monetary policy of the state that deeply affected the fluctuation in the prices commodity due to the manipulation of the coinage.
