Abstract

This study aims at shedding light on the social integration of foreign students studying at the Language Center at the University of Jordan in their Arab environment through the examination of their social relations with Jordanian citizens and Arab students in Jordan. The study also focuses upon the difficulties that they face and how comfortable and satisfied they are as well as the relation of that with some changeable elements as the age of the learner, his / her social status, and the residency duration in Jordan. The study encompasses a theoretical and a practical approach. The first approach deals with combining the study’s problem, its limitations, assumptions, and an identification of social integration whereas the second deals with a sample of eighty two male and female foreign learners of diverse nationalities at the Language Center and other foreign learners distributed at different humanities faculties at the University of Jordan. The material of the field study had been compiled from the writing of the sample students and their answers to the questions of the study in addition to previous information collected from the former writing of students in advanced levels at the Language Center.
