Abstract

This study sheds light upon psychological time in the novel of political imprisonment as an important component of the text that promotes the novelist’s expression in the face of various mechanisms of repression. This study attempts to identify the role of this time to give the novel its artistic form creating coherence with other elements of the narration and focusing on the dialectical relations with the inner self that appears on paper in an introspective manner based on dreams , remembrance, and dialogue This study uses the Moroccan novelist, Tahar Ben Jelloun’s novel Tilka al Atmat al Baherah : That Brilliant Darkness as a model to detect the psychological time forms which are governed by external standards of time.It also seeks to detect psychological time how is presented, the problems of shifting,and its impact on characters because time has a specially clear influence on both vision and formation.
