Abstract

Almaqama discourse in Classical Arabic literature has constituted a phenomenon which drew attention and left an impact on the nature of the Arab creativity, making this discourse distinctive with creativity and composition. It has been received by the people with admiration, making it a literary genre that has a special form and content. Critics have studied the phenomenon of Almaqama in the context of literary history, and did not consider it as a literary genre with certain dialectic conditions and contexts with other genres - poetry and prose - making this study deal with this subject. The study suggests that Almaqama is a literary genre which has its conditions that are represented in the narrative, rhythm, content and "of the term" which embodied this structure. In order to present the study vision, the genre of Almaqama was discussed within the framework of the theory of global literary genres, which interprets genres according to its form and content, and this was what study sought.
