Discrepant attitudes of Arab Grammarians
Abstract
Abstract This paper engages with the phenomenon of concurrence of syllables, both in terms of utterance and meaning, or meaning only. It points out how grammarians observed the concurrence of these features. Some of them accepted it, some objected to it on the grounds that the concurrence and succession of syllables even at the level of meaning is not desired in Arabic. Even those grammarians who consented to this linguistic phenomenon set conditions for it which this paper seeks to identify and examine .Downloads
