The Preventive Role of the University Administration in Reducing Students’ Violence in Jordanian Universities

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the requirements of the preventive role of the university administration in reducing students’ violence In Jordain Universities. The sample of the study consisted of (1230) male and female participants selected through random cluster sampling working in students affairs, academic leaders, students council members and university security in public and private universities in the academic year 2012/2013. A questionnaire was developed for the requirements of the preventive role of the university administration containing the administrative, academic, students affairs, university security and obeying rules domains, the researchers calculated reliability and validity. The findings of the study showed that the requirements of the preventive role of the university administration in reducing violence was in an average level and there are significant statistical differences at the level of (α = 0.05) between the means of the participants’ evaluations according to post variable for academic leaders. Moreover, there are significant statistical differences at the level of (α=0.05) attributed to university type in the favor of private universities. Based on the findings of the study the researchers recommended the need of carrying out objective educational programs for the employees and students on the dialogue culture, accepting others, tolerance, and refusing religion, knowledge and regional vandalism. Moreover, developing humans kills in communication within a positive organizational climate within academic freedom, justice, equity and refusing bullying starting form admission polices till the graduation from the university.
