The Impact of the University Environment and Civic Culture Among Students Al al-Bayt University and the University of Jordan: a Comparative Field Study

Abstract

The study aims to indicate the role of the university environment in influencing the thinking and behavior of students in the universities, through the measurement of the main tools to learn and interact with students in undergraduate, which serves as the effects on the formation of a civic culture of the students, is the curriculum, activities and various programs, and university administration and the application of regulations and instructions of the hand, and influences public policy and community values of the state of Jordan on the other. And to identify, the study has two parts: theoretical and applied. Where the review of vocabulary affecting the attitudes of students in the formation of culture, civil, and use the case study of a field to the students of the University of Al al-Bayt and the University of Jordan included to measure the opinion of the students through a sample of (866) students from different faculties of Humanities and Social and science colleges in the universities. The study found a number of conclusions and recommendations is most important, the existence of statistically significant differences in most of the aspects that influence thought and behavior of students, especially in colleges humanity and an average account ranged between (25.2) to (98.2) by averages which have been extracted with transactions for the stability of internal consistency (Cronbach alpha). Overall, the results were positive, but it was higher when compared to students of the University of Jordan University of Al al-Bayt. The study proved the hypothesis that was based upon the existence of a positive relationship in the scientific methods and conditions employed by public universities - as institutions teaching - and between the development of civic culture among students and thus the ability to community interaction. Finally, the study recommends that the interaction of the university administration at all levels has to do with relational management in promoting the talents of students and develop their talents and aspirations, which requires open channels of dialogue and interaction with students constantly.
