Greyness and Sings of Old Age in the Pre-Islamic Poetry

Abstract

This study tackles the topic of greyness and the sings of old age pertinet to acertain person in the pre-Islamic poetry and the stand of the poets of this period towards them. It is constituted of a preface and five sections namely: Feeling sorrow towards youthfulness of the past, the attitude of contempt on part of the wife towards old age and aged poet ,his attitude towards general weakness and helplessness and the feeling of solitude and at last his wish to pass away because every living person is destined to die and death is way out. The pre-Islamic poets could express these attitudes very lively and vividly in their works.
