The Legendary Methodology of Dr. Nasrat Abdul Rahman’s “Critical Study”

Abstract

This research deals with the critical value that was taken in Dr. Nasrat Abdul Rahman’s study: “the artistic image in the Pre-Islamic Poetry”, and the reality and legend in the poetry of Abu Thou’aib Al Hathaly’s poetry through the legendary methodology. The artistic image deals with the subjective view that included in the main researches that the researcher tackled in his study. Thus, the theoretical basics in this study became clear, and the applied side through particular evidences the researcher tackled to manifest his point of view in his said critical study. The study represented the difference between the researcher point of view and the subject itself through critical study methodology and he was able to reach to the strong and the weak points to judge this study. Dr. Nasrat made the Pre-Islamic Poetry his method to ensure his Anthropological point of view and its relation to public legends and beliefs prevailed at that time. He ignored the artistic image and the beautiful value included in it which extends to our days.
