Abstract

This study aims at identifying the effectiveness of the services provided by the Jordanian Association for Family Planning and Protection (JAFPP), it achieves this by identifying the clients' knowledge and use of these services, as well as their satisfaction with the services. The study also aims to identify the relationship between the demographic, economic and social factors and the satisfaction of the clients with the services.

To achieve the goals of the study, a representative stratified random sample of 50% of the JAFPP clinics from each of the 3 regions of the kingdom has been randomly selected. For 3 days, all the clients who visited those clinics were interviewed. In addition, all the staff members of all of the JAFPP 19 clinics were interviewed, so that the sample's size was (541) clients. The study used the descriptive method, and the questionnaire as a mean of data collection, and the descriptive ways for the data analysis.

The major findings of the study are:

-           Many of the clients know the services that JAFPP provides especially gynecological problems and the early detection of breast and cervical cancer, while menopausal and child treatment/child care advice are the least known services.

-           The highly used services are family planning and gynecological problems services, the least used are the menopausal and the pre-marital advice services.

-           The clients are satisfied in general with the services that JAFPP provide.

-           The one way ANNOVA test, that was followed by Duncan test, showed that there is a relation between some economic, social and demographic factors (educational level, age, work, marital status, monthly income, insurance), and the satisfaction of the clients with the services provided by JAFPP.

Finally, the researchers suggested a number of recommendations based on the study results, the most important of which are: JAFPP should expand its health services so that it become more comprehensive and more inclusive of men, it should concentrate as well on consciousness raising and awareness raising services.
