Abstract

This Study attempts to answer the following questions:

1.         What was the attitude of the Andalusian Society towards what Al-Hakam Al-Mustansir did when he chose his young son Hisham as his successor?

2.         Was Ibn Abi Amir’s intention is to enforce the absolute rule, the only one of its kind ? Or were there other centers of power with their own schemes and having the same ambitions as those of Ibn Abi Amir?

3.         How did the centers of power, that were ambitious to enforce an absolute rule, appear? And when did they appear?

4.         How did Ibn Abi Amir- after a fierce struggle-succeeded in enforcing absolutism in the State at the expense of other competing schemes?
