Abstract

Ibn Jubair has depicted in his journey several pictures of the social architecture in the countries he visited. Some alien scenes attracted his attention, and so he criticized them, especially those contradict the Islamic religion, or those which he has not been familiar with in the Islamic Western World. This study aims at investigating the critical tendency in his journey, the extent of its relationship with Ibn Jubair himself, and the forms that it represented. This study will focus on two frames; the political and administrational critique; and the social critique.
