Abstract

The study aimed to identify the impact of the political discourse of King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein on human development in Jordan, represented by three dimensions: poverty, unemployment, and education. The study adopted the content analysis, the systems approach, and the structural-functionalist approach in the political approach analysis. The political speeches under analysis consisted of all forms of political speech of King Abdullah II in the period 1999-2015, including letters from the Throne and interviews with global, regional and local television stations as well as newspapers. Thirty-five terms were selected for the purposes of the current study. The study used the quantitative approach to analyze the data using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences program (SPSS). The findings of the study indicated that there is a statistically significant and positive impact of the political discourse of King Abdullah II on human development dimensions (poverty, unemployment, and education). The study recommended to take terms of the political discourse of King Abdullah II related to human development as thoughtful responses to the input received by the political system from the internal and external environment, and appeared as policies, strategies and initiatives after treatment in order to address national problems.
