THE Confessions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau: Paratext And Discursive Strategies

Abstract

This paper aims at depicting discursive and pragmatic strategies implemented in Jean-Jacques Rousseau‘s Confessions paratext. We believe that paratexts, like any other type of texts, are natu-rally discourses; they overlap a function, happen wi-thin a com-municative situation and bear an objective. Thus, by selecting a series of examples, we analysed the two preambles to highlight nature, objective and effect.
