The political culture of the University of Jordan students after the Arab Spring

Abstract

This study aims to check for a statistically significant differences at the level of significance (a=0.05) between the variable of political culture and the demographic variables of the study sample represented by (gender, age, school year, college, academic rate, place of residence, parental profession, and monthly income, identify the level of political culture among the students of the University of Jordan after the Arab Spring, how they evaluate their political system, verify the role of the media in shaping the political culture of Jordan University students, and follow the University of Jordan student’s attitudes towards national political symbols. The study revealed that there were no statistically significant differences between the demographic variables of the study sample, represented by (gender, age group, school year, type of college, academic average, place of residence, and parents' profession), and between the degree of formation of political culture among university students Jordan after the Arab Spring. The study also found that there were statistically significant differences for the monthly income variable in favor of people with income from 701 dinars and more. The study found that the Arab Spring has contributed to increasing political awareness of the study sample. With regard to the role of the media in shaping political culture, the study found that the sample depends on the sources of its political information from the media, especially the Internet.
