Designing an Artistic Booklet Derived from Saudi Heritage for Developing the Visual Thinking and Artistic Skills during Late Childhood Stage

Abstract

The study aims to design and artistic booklet derived from Saudi heritage elements to develop visual thinking and artistic skills for children in the late stage. The study followed the descriptive approach with the practical exercise. The study suggested sixteen (16) artistic activities included in the booklet. They were approved and validated by eleven specialized experts who reviewed the booklet. The study arrived to the suggested designed artistic booklet for developing visual thinking (visual visualization, organization, discrimination, analysis, composition, formation, interpretation) as well as the artistic skills (observation, experimentation, practice, proficiency, and innovation) during the late childhood stage. Finally, the study recommended the booklet to be adopted by the ministry of education in primary school which will enhance the national identify and reinforce the visual thinking in the field of art and design in particular.
