Abstract

This study aims at highlighting the importance of teaching grammar in French as a foreign language class and to discuss the place given to grammar in the different methodological approaches. At the same time, the study attempts to examine the results of a survey of Jordanian students learning French in an academic context. The results of the study reveal that learners have serious difficulties that affect their motivation and their mastery of oral and written forms of French. This requires the use of dynamic and motivating activities that involve more learners in their learning process. The study concludes with a proposition including lines of reflection and didactic solutions that can contribute to the improvement of teaching/ learning French in Jordan.
