Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the nature of the patterns of human population that settled in the Balqa region during the Ottoman period, and its social characteristics. The study revealed, through the documents used and analyzed, that the population axis of the region was characterized by diversity and pluralism, given the multiplicity of tribal identities, but what is clear is the intensification of tribal rivalry that had been taking place throughout the period for the control of the Balqa region and the establishment of alliances. The study concluded that competition often created conflicts and strife for control, influence and leadership, while the social identity of the region had also changed due to migrations from other regions.
