Social media addresses illegal immigration

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the social network handling "Twitter" to the issue of illegal immigration in the Arab world, and the extent of the interaction of tweeters with that, and to identify the nature of the tweets and associated material related to illegal immigration. This study belongs to descriptive research aimed at describing and analyzing the characteristics of covering the issue of illegal immigration through a social network (Twitter). The study relied on the survey method, and through it the sample survey method. The content analysis form was designed as a tool for the study. The study concluded several results, most notably: 18% of the tweets were news related to the prosecution of immigrants, and also showed that 45% of the tweeters via Twitter for issues related to illegal immigration by community activists. And that 31% of the tweets were personal blogs dealing with illegal immigration issues. The study came out with several recommendations, including: the need for all official and civil levels to contribute to explaining the danger of illegal people, and for the media to address illegal migration comprehensively, and to activate youth relations networks related to migration.
