Future Trends in the Change in Population Characteristics in Anbar Province Until 2042

Abstract

The study aims at visioning the future picture of Anbar population. Future estimations are of great significance for the population in any state in the world, particularly those which plan for their future. The aim is to plan the future needs for the population represented by educational and health services, and providing job opportunities to achieve economic, social and political goals in a way that leads to invest in currently available human and material energies and resources or those available in the future to achieve development goals. The problem of the study has been formulated to explore the extent of development in population size and characteristics, level of change in the type and age structure and population pyramid of Anbar population until 2042. Findings of the study show that the number of the population in the Province will steadily increase meriting the positive urban and rural population growth. In addition, there has been a decrease in the ratio of small age groups compared to the total population size. Moreover, the ratio of gender will tend to be close to the normal during the period of the study. The study recommends taking active measures to integrate population issues and characteristics in the state policy and its development plans, particularly the educational, health and housing sectors. It recommends, furthermore, putting a policy which deters and regulates high fertility rates.
