Abstract

After the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Italy tried to direct its policy towards it in light of its deteriorating economic conditions after the Second World War, and it wanted to return to international political life and have a role in the European political decision.Italy's policy towards the People's Republic of China initially focused on the economic aspects and then turned to the political aspects, so negotiations between the two countries were long and the People's Republic of China demanded recognition of them as the sole and legitimate representative of the Chinese people as well as obtaining Italy's approval to have a seat in the United Nations.
