A Theoretical Reading for Bourdieu's Cultural Capital Theory and Csikszentmihalyi's Systems Theory in Explaining the Relationship between Culture and Creativity

Abstract

The study aims to identify the contemporary trends in explanation of the relationship between culture and creativity by presenting Bourdieu's cultural capital theory and Csikszentmihalyi's systems theory and monitoring the basic issues of both theories. The study also aims to identify the basic issues raised by Bourdieu's theory about culture and creativity in addition to the most prominent concepts created by Bourdieu and how distinctive is the theory of Bourdieu in dealing with the issue of culture and creativity about the traditional trends in sociology. Moreover, the study aims to identify the issues raised by systems Theory for Csikszentmihalyi and highlighting the importance of this theory in explanation of the relationship between culture and creativity. The study concluded a number of results; the most important are: The cultural, social, objective, experiences, and cultural structures that emerge between individuals and groups can be used to clarify the relationships and interactions which connect what surrounds of the creator as a social member and the surrounding situations and circumstances in addition that creativity does not occur from nothing, it recognizes the social nature of creativity and therefore, never isolates the individual from his environment which gives factors and social context the same importance of the level of individual factors in the study.
