Phonological Assimilation: A New Perspective
Abstract
The study aims at extending the concept of phonological assimilation from its narrow sense that is limited to neighboring single sounds within the same word or two adjacent words to a broader sense that may include two non-adjacent words that occur in the same sentence or text. The study also extends the concept of assimilation to include not only phonology but also morphology and syntax. It sets off by illuminating the inaccuracy of the concept of phonological assimilation in the sense that it does not capture what it is meant for.Downloads
